– As my very french boss would say: “I am agreed”. My computer is the center of my digital life but sometimes, it’s too much, too hot, too big and clumsy… My iPhone does very well when I am in motion but an iPad occupies a space no other device can: it integrates with my life...

As someone that grew up watching the NBA in the 90’s, whose idols as soccer and basketball players are the guys that “play smart”, understand the game, are educated and well spoken. As a black person often accused of “playing white” this means a lot to me. + Grant Hill drinks Sprite!

I was off today
So I took the opportunity to geek around my TV:
I hooked up my 46 inch plasma TV to my LAN
I installed XBMC server instance on my mac so I could exploit the DLNA features on my TV
I installed a VPN client that emulates an american IP address from France
I added a netflix service that I can stream to my AppleTV to leverage the aforementioned VPN
I streamed Hulu to my TV
I watched...

HR optimization the Google way. →
I am ambivalent about google. It makes some great things and produces some of the greatest code and tech products around. At the same time they do some really dumb things like Buzz or making highly technical people managers! This makes no sense. I understand that one’s ability to solve problems through code is a sign of intelligence but management has almost nothing to do with this kind of...

Google at their best. Facebook at their best.
Very very true… I loved the fact that Google realizes the power it has and uses it in times of crisis… Twitter does it by being itself… But Facebook toppled regimes in Tunisia and Egypt, ‘nuff said.

* Figure out what kind of knot you like in your ties and stick with it.
* Carry a pocket knife. * Buy a tuxedo before you are thirty. Stay that size. * Subscribe to a small-circulation magazine. * It should have a cork-screw. The knife. Not the magazine. * Take pictures. One day it will be fun to laugh at them. * You should never have to match...

The modesty manifesto →
Article describes how humility is lost on people and how it may doom America… All I can say is I can’t count, I don’t know right from left, I have no discernible skill but : I am well liked and I am a very important person.

Hollowing out of the labor force →
So this article is interresting… I read this article it refers to but I also read this one. I want to put in my two cents…
I agree that the “middle” is being hollowed out. I remember moving to Paris last year and thinking there were two kinds of jobs: those I was over-qualified for and those I was unqualified for. The jobs that I felt I could do (because I had the training...

In June of 2010, I signed up for a line of service with T-Mobile at one of their retail stores, so I could tinker about with a Google Nexus One handset that had recently and mysteriously shown up at the office for no apparent reason. When free cellphones arrive, I don’t ask questions.
